Kinawera Designs; Fiona Whitelaw
I am an anthropologist by training and my interest in indigenous art and adornment informs my work. The tribal breastplate range resonates with eastern Pacific and Melanesian aesthetic styles as well as meso-American and pacific First Nations traditions.
I almost exclusively use reclaimed materials in the production of my work, from tent zippers to washers to canvas and anything else that snatches my fancy. I prefer and use natural fabrics, such as wool, silk or leather. All my creations are handmade, just like an ipad!
Kinawera Designs is based on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia
